Caribou Hunts
Dear Hunters,
As many of you know, the outfitting industry and hunting, in general, has been under attack in the Northwest Territories. The Environmental Movement, trying to stop oil and gas development, and a gas pipeline through the MacKenzie Valley, has cooked up a "Crashing Caribou Theory", in order to create protected calving grounds, and hence, stop development. They are trying a similar strategy to shut down polar bear hunting, due to global warming. Anyway, the last three months have been spent doing the research, and proving the government completely wrong. Fortunately, wildlife management in Region R, where we hunt central-barren ground caribou at our Courageous Lake Caribou Camps, is now no longer in the hands of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and is now in other governmental hands. What this means is stability in our industry and wildlife management based on facts, and not an agenda. Believe me, it is a huge personal relief to myself, my family, and our family of employees.
From a practical standpoint, the lack of certainty and the governmental "Crashing Caribou" propaganda has hurt our sales for the 2007 season. As most of you know, we are normally sold out by this time of year, and over half sold for 2008. That is not the case, and so we are offering our caribou hunt for this season to our Magnum Hunt Club members at a discount. Prices are as follows:
